Before you apply

Check Your Eligibility

Students in grades 7–11 may apply. The program is currently available only in Montgomery County and requires approximately four hours of participation each week.

Previous leadership experience is not required, although it is recommended. Advanced technical skills are not required.

  • Age or grade: Students in grades 7–11 may apply.
  • Location: The program is currently available only in Montgomery County, Maryland.
  • Program length: The program lasts approximately six months. Exact dates for the next cohort will be announced.
  • Time commitment: Fellows should expect approximately four hours per week, including sessions, meetings, communication, and project work.
  • Attendance: Fellows should attend most sessions. Missing a small number is acceptable, but fellows are responsible for catching up with their team or reviewing a mentor’s email update.
  • Experience: Previous leadership experience is not required, although it is recommended. Advanced technical skills are not required.

After You Submit

SGAP reviews each application and interviews applicants before selecting approximately 15 fellows. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their interest in sustainability, ability to collaborate, and willingness to complete the program’s weekly responsibilities.

Is there an application fee?
There is no fee to participate in the Fellows Program. Project teams may apply for grant funding to support the implementation of their projects.
Can I save my application and finish it later?
You are able to save the application on the google form but it is reccomeneded to put your responses in a google docs before exiting the form
Can I edit my application after submitting it?
You cannnot edit the application after submitting
What if I do not receive a confirmation email?
